Hal: Appreciate the insight into your life and all the wonderful photos that accompanied your short autobiography!

Relaxed by the waves, bring some Serenity back into your life, and enjoy the respite from the madness. (Unfortunately, it will all still be here when you return.)

I thoroughly enjoyed your stories and photographs in today's post, in part due to the similarities of our experiences. I grew up in the northeast Bronx in Parkchester, my mother was from New Rochelle and my favorite Uncle Joe and Aunt Eleanor lived in Portchester. We went to Playland a couple of times each summer in the early 60s. The Fun House at Playland was fabulous, nothing like it exists today. I also used to caddy for my uncle Joe at Westchester Country Club when I was a young teenager.

I have been tied to the Cape since I was five years old and later kept my wooden sloop out in Orleans. I also lived in Chicago and had many sailing adventures on both Lake Michigan and the east coast until a stopover in Hawaii in February 1994. My new wife and I moved here seven months later and have been enjoying it ever since.

I hope you have a great vacation in paradise. Wish you were visiting Oahu and that I could meet you and swap tales. Aloha from Kaneohe!
