I am a retired physician/psychiatrist who entered med school in Madison in 1967. I was on the streets many times, and dropped out to set-up the national Student Health Organization office in CHI in 1969, with my wife and baby boy. We set -up a print shop and printed the ENCOUNTER journal, the first (and only?) issue had Che Guevara on the cover and went out to fellow radical healthcare students all over the country. During and after "The Days of Rage", for which I was the Medical Director, it all fell apart and my wife, son, and I ran for cover. 31 SDS marchers were shot that night and I checked out a few, had an arrangement with local ER's to treat them. When I heard two CPD officers screaming in their upside down burning police car, it soured me on violent revolution. I went on to do a psychiatry residency and save humanity, one suffering soul at a time, as well as myself. 450 turned out here in Marietta, Ohio for the "Hands Off!" march. Have a blessed day! We are NOT alone.

I just looked you up and see that you actually ended up in East Lansing so I assume what you meant is that you were there at the same time I was. Someone else who was there at the same time was Thom Hartmann, the well known progressive radio host.

I grew up in EL where both my folks were Profs in medicine and social work. I moved to CA in 71-72 to go to art school. My profile pic is hardly temporally accurate :)

The social work prof must have been before my time. I knew a few med school professors but they were in psychiatry (do you ever make it up to Portland?) I had friends who went to e l hs incudes my first wife, Steve Farness, Toni Tryon
