Higher education , science , and innovation used to be one of Americas reason for exceptionalism ( though personally I always thought it was more for the wrong things that make up the country) . With both higher education and public schooling under attack, a US version of madrasas (sic) will soon open up - right wing Christianity intertwined with MAGA ideology. For profit and subsidized with public money no less. So sad.

I looked up Madrasa: "sometimes transliterated as madrasah or madrassa, is the Arabic word for any type of educational institution, secular or religious, whether for elementary education or higher learning. In countries outside the Arab world, the word usually refers to a specific type of religious school or college for the study of the religion of Islam, though this may not be the only subject studied."
